Process

Paula does her architectural renderings and commercial illustrations conventionally, off computer with pencil, pen and ink or watercolor/gouache media. She will work directly with an art director from rough sketches and can give the agency an idea of final full color illustration by way of a comp marker rendering. Her portfolio is usually enough to show the art director her range of skill.

For architectural rendering, Paula can work from blueprints, PDF files of floor plans, elevations, site and roof plans. Once we receive all the necessary information and have a chance to review it, an estimate of fees and terms is generated within 24 hours. The job will not be scheduled or started until the approved estimate is signed and returned.

Generally, an initial first sketch is done in pencil. The view for architectural renderings is established with all necessary landscaping and entourage. At this first stage, the sketch is scanned and emailed back for minor adjustments, additions or corrections of detail. The same can be done for illustrations...approval from an initial sketch.

After all detail is approved, Paula then proceeds to final artwork on board with the medium most appropriate to the job. Once completed, the final illustration is shipped within 24 hours.

We can also provide scanning services for digital use. Many of our clients use their architectural renderings for signage, brochures, sales sheets, or for presentation purposes before city council or other approval boards. The original illustration is often framed for the corporate office or for the on-site construction office.

Paula can work directly with the art director to provide scanned copies as needed for the reproduction of the illustration in their project.
